The Mini-Split heating and cooling unit was donated by Mitsubishi Electric Cooling and Heating. A mini-split system can be added to houses, retrofits, and in spaces that are not easily climate controlled due to less limitations for installation. These systems do not require any extensive ductwork which is time efficient and cost-effective. A mini-split system does not need a closet for a heat pump nor a large outdoor pad that is required with traditional central heating and air unit. The unit offers a compact and space efficient design that is mounted near the entrance of the Tiny Office. This mini-split system easily maintains a comfortable climate in the office throughout the entire year. This system is 40% more efficient than traditional HVAC systems so it uses significantly less energy to heat and cool. Not only is it more efficient than traditional heating and cooling systems it also filtrates the air to improve indoor air quality.
